Watching the last episode, I was musing once again about how Hollywood is obsessed with cop shows and insists on turning every novel idea into one. Grimm, for example, is a cool story that has nothing to do with cops. While they found a way to make it work, with Nick able to play the good guy/enforcer in both worlds as a police detective, this all too familiar storyline was clearly was an afterthought. Anyway the Grimm as a lone, shadowy figure (think of Nick's aunt or mother) fighting monsters in the dark and unbeknownst to anyone is a much more compelling idea, in my opinion. Buffy wasn't no cop. :-0 Another example of this obsession of Hollywood's is the new SyFy channel show Defiance. They went to all the trouble to create this rich backdrop for epic sci-fi storytelling (campy as it may be), and in the first episode what do they do? Turn it into a cop show. These are the gripes that keep old guys like me up at night. That and gas. :-0 Feel free to share your thoughts, especially if they come with a fruit basket.
This is a fun game that works really well with Grimm. Take a quote from a movie (or TV show), and modify the quote for the TV show as well as what character is likely to be the one to say it. Let me start.
"One thing about living in Portland I never could stomach, all the damn wessen."
Nick Burkhardt
More quotes
"I'm a mog: half man, half dog. I'm my own best friend!"
Monroe
[To Nick]"I'll get you, my pretty, and your little blutbad, too!"
Adalind
So, if anyone also posts on the Grimm forum over at IMDB.com, they are likely familiar with my posting style. But before I make this forum a permanent abode for myself, I have several questions that I would like answers to. Moderators or anyone else, feel free to respond as honestly as possible.
1. When I read Juliette-bashing (whether nonsensical or not), do I get to insult said bashers in turn? This also includes anyone who whines about "it taking forever for Juliette to regain her memory" or any other season long plot line. I don't particular like forums that have a double standard where posters get to insult characters from the show, but I don't get to insult them back.
2. Does this forum discriminate against posters who use the term, "wessen"?
3. Does this forum discriminate against posters who consider Grimm=wessen, even though characters on the show apply a narrower definition of what qualifies under the term, but fans clearly have a broader definition (i.e. anyone who morphs or has powers)?
4. Does this forum have constant fan-"girl" fawning over Renard?
5. Does this forum automatically delete threads that haven't had new posts in 3 months? 6 months? A year?
6. Do I get to insult posters who whine about the German/French/Dutch/Wessen terms being grammatically incorrect and how the writers are morons because of it?
Somebody should go back and count how many times we saw an Apple product on screen. Sheesh, even the Gypsy lady has an iPhone.
And Nick uses his iPhone as a crime solving device.
Which is sort of strange cause Microsoft has A LOT of ads on NBC.
I also notice that the TV show Arrow has gone all Windows 8 this season.
I'm surprised Adalind doesn't have her own thread. I hate the character. I'm really looking forward to someone killing her. I just don't know if the network can kill pregnant women.
Anyway, in the Walking Dead we got not one but two scenes of Adalind in her underwear. Which reminded me that Claire Coffee is pretty hot and did a skimpily clad Photostat in Esquire magazine a while back.
oh and checking her IMDB filmography I discovered 10 years ago she was on the West Wing ( I loved that show ), and a little googling, and a trip to the West Wing Wiki, I found out that she was " one of the interns Will Bailey assigned to the White House Press Office after the entire speechwriting staff quits when he takes over for Sam Seaborn as Deputy White House Communications Director." OH! I totally remember her now. She was great. Her character was very funny. I'm glad she finally got another good reoccurring role.
I also found out she is a Niners fan. So she can't be all bad.
Synopsis: Nick (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) discover a new kind of strange when they investigate suspects being found dead - for the second time. In Europe, Adalind (Claire Coffee) finds herself in the middle of a feud between Frau Pech and Stefania (guest star Shohreh Aghdashloo ) while working over the details of her pending transaction. Meanwhile, determined to remember every last detail to get things started once more, Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) insists Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) share with her Nick’s darkest secret - the world of Grimms and Wesen. Sasha Roiz, Reggie Lee and Bree Turner also star.

Zombies In Portland? Must be Tuesdays!
What did you all think of tonight's newest episode of Grimm?
Just one more episode left for Season 2!
NBC just released their Fall and Mid-Season schedule for 2013/2014 and it looks like Grimm will be moving back to Fridays! I think it's a good move for Grimm, as it has done well on Fridays. Plus, I think it has a better chance of getting more Seasons on Fridays without stiff competition.
On top of that, no more Fashion Star and Grimm pairing. NBC will be airing Dateline at 8pm, Grimm at 9pm, then Dracula and Crossbones at 10pm. (Dracula and Crossbones are both 10-episode orders).
(On a side note, a lot of people think Revolution will be cancelled next year because it's being moved to Wednesdays without The Voice as its lead.)
Here is the Schedule released by NBC, and information on the shows Dracula and Crossbones.

Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers (“The Tudors”) stars in this provocative new drama as one of the world’s most iconic characters. It’s the late 19th century and the mysterious Dracula (Rhys Meyers) has arrived in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. He’s especially interested in the new technology of electricity, which promises to brighten the night — useful for someone who avoids the sun. But he has another reason for his travels: He hopes to take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier. Everything seems to be going according to plan… until he becomes infatuated with a woman who appears to be a reincarnation of his dead wife. Victoria Smurfit (“About a Boy”), Thomas Kretschmann (“King Kong”), Jessica De Gouw (“Arrow”), Oliver Jackson-Cohen (“Mr. Selfridge”), Nonso Anozie (“Game of Thrones”) and Katie McGrath (“Merlin”) also star.
Writer Daniel Knauf (“Carnival”), Tony Krantz, (“24,” “Sports Night”), Colin Callender and Gareth Neame (“Downton Abbey”) serve as executive producers. “Dracula” is a production of Flame Ventures, Sky Living, Playground Entertainment, Universal Television, NBCUniversal International Television Production and Carnival Film & Television.

it’s 1715 on the Bahamian island of New Providence, the first functioning democracy in the Americas, where the diabolical pirate Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard (John Malkovich, “(In the Line of Fire”), reigns over a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws and miscreant sailors. Part shantytown, part marauder’s paradise, this is a place like no other on earth, and a mounting threat to international commerce. To gain control of this fearsome society, Tom Lowe, a highly skilled undercover assassin, is sent to the pirates’ haven to take down the brilliant and charismatic Blackbeard. But The Closer Lowe gets, the more he finds that his quest is not so simple. Lowe can’t help but admire the political ideals of Blackbeard, whose thirst for knowledge knows no bounds. But Lowe is not the only danger to Blackbeard’s rule. He is a man with many villainous rivals and one great weakness, a passionately driven woman whom he cannot deny.
Writer Neil Cross, Walter F. Parkes, Laurie MacDonald and Ted Gold serve as executive producers. “Crossbones” is a production of Universal Television, Parkes/MacDonald Productions and Georgeville Television.

I'm debating about putting separate links in the threads for particular episodes. But for right now I'm just going to make this a thread. We can always change our minds and make changes later...
Anyway, while looking for some Grimm-centric info I found some other sites that have Reviewed and Recapped Grimm episodes. Some of these are really good. I'm going to start off with posting a link to what I thought were the best sites and see what kind of interest it spawns.
I just realized something. We've seen big foot, space aliens, witches, satyrs, rumplestiltkin the pied piper, ogres, dragons, Ghosts, Greek gods and .... (have we seen werewolves and vampires?) and next week is
Spoiler :
Zombies!
But we haven't seen mermaids?
(whining) I wanna see Mermaids.
(those cute ones from Australia would be cool - bonus points to anyone who knows the reference)
a. Kelly gets rid of the coins and returns to Portland - maybe to help with the keys.
b. Nick's mom (Kelly Burkhardt) gets rid of the coins but doesn't return to Portland.
c. we never find out what happens with the coins. we never see Kelly again
d. Kelly gets corrupted by the coins and things get complicated
e. The coins get stolen from Kelly and she goes off looking for them.
Synopsis: Nick discovers a muse-like Wesen with the ability to influence those she gets close to - some with positive results, others with terrifying ones. Nick must find a way to get close without losing himself in the process. Juliette arranges a dinner date with Nick in the hopes of clearing the air, but their plans go awry as the case intensifies. Meanwhile, Rosalee takes her first visit to Aunt Marie's trailer.
Another new episode of Grimm tonight! What do you all think of Kiss of the Muse?
Do you think the coins are even mor important to the show?
I can not help feeling that lies behind the coins perhaps more.
The story was told so fast. And we don´t see Kelly destory them yet.
And what would happen if someone get´s all the coins?
Tuesday night's episode "Endangered" scored a rating of 1.9/5 in 18-49 year olds with 5.77 million total viewers, which is an increase from the last episode's season low with 1.3/4 in 18-49 with 4.9 million total viewers.
The more important news in my opinion is Tuesday's episode of Grimm beat Monday's episode of Revolution in the ratings!
Revolution's monday night rating was 1.8/5 in 18-49 with 5.49 million total viewers.
I think this is significant because NBC considers Revolution as their flagship scripted series.
