Or that he would not use his Grimm powers to protect himself? Kelly and Marie did not want Nick to become a Grimm, but when he did, he was given abilities he must use to protect humans from the unknown threat around them. In Grimm, there are monsters, violence and brutal killilngs everywhere. Some wesen kill humans to eat - even children are on the menu. Wesen kill other wesen. Some wesen work for organisations that want to kill Grimms. Nick got dragged into century-long conflicts, for no other reason than being a Grimm. Only a few hours after he saw Adalind woge the first time, he had his first encounter with the reapers. Nick never did anything to attract attention from the royals or the Verrat – they came to him. So did BC. To sum up: a Grimm has NOT the same choices as ordinary people living in our world for two reasons: 1) a Grimm is part of a magical, violent and dangerous world that is not going to leave him alone and 2) a Grimm has a moral responsibility to fight evil wesen.
