HW, not so much. The problem I see with BC is its introduction so late in the series. For an organization like that to work, it would have to begin early in the series and be developed so that, if, someone like Renard decides to join it, the audience knows the reasons behind his joining.
The introduction of BC reminds me of the one for The Faith Militant in GoT. They both sucked and they had a very sloppy intro. It seemed like both came out of nowhere and rose to power way too quickly.
Renard joining BC was very rushed and seemed to happen at the drop of a hat one minute he opposed them the next he didn’t and turning him into Bonepartes bitch especially made zero sense charecter wise thought to be fair Boneparte was one scary dude. I actually found him more threatening than any of the Royals.
I hated the faith militant they bored me to tears, so much so they actually had me rooting for Cersei to destroy them, Cersei a charecter I’ve hated probably more than any I’ve seen on tv. When game of thrones goes bad it goes really bad.
I think one of the weaknesses of GoT is that they sometimes glorify things like Cersei did. I think your reaction is something they probably knew a lot of viewers would have. There was no nuance at all to the FM. They were boring as hell and them taking over KL the way they did made no sense. They became so powerful that they setup a situation so ridiculous to get rid of them.
Although, that's probably why they gave them that much power in the first place. They tend to write backwards from big events and It was an easy way to wipe a bunch of characters off the board at once.
By the way, Happy Birthday!
Thank you.
