Adalind showed her gratitude with the kiss. Perhaps a handshake would have sufficed in that moment to keep things strictly platonic but I think the writers were simply showing the softer side of Adalind with that simple kiss. It could have been more, if the writers wanted it that way but they didn't. I'm not 100% certain on this but the writers only brought Meisner back due to his popularity during that rescue Adalind and her baby arc. Of all of Sean's allies, Sebastian was more fleshed out and honestly, I cared more for him than I ever did Meisner. When S5 rolled out and Adalind appeared indifferent to Meisner's return, it's all the confirmation I needed that there was nothing more to the kiss.
Perhaps if Adalind was the centre of the supposed S5 triangle, they could have made more of the kiss, like Adalind have a flashback to that particular moment instead of Meisner...
