I also expected a continuity error, thinking that the moved the furniture suddenly with no reason but then in 6x01 it was still sitting next to the bathroom. It was in 6x04 that we see it next to the bedroom doors at the foot of the steps with the stuffed animals. Nick was clearly expectant of Adalind coming back to the fome and with Diana in tow. He was a fugitive for the first three episodes of the season, so he couldn't have gone out to get the toys but there's Monroe and Rosalee who could have done that for him. He wanted to make the loft into a home for Diana and moving the bed closer to her mother would ease both mother and child I think. It was all very thoughtful of him to do because I never would have expected it. I thought Diana would be relegated to sleeping by the bathroom until she whined (which she technically did anyway) about her living arrangements and only after would the bed be moved. It was sweet of him. I think S6 is peppered with a lot more gestures of affection from Nick towards Adalind, it's why I think the audience already knows he loves her long before he says it and I believe Adalind also knew which explains why she didn't sound so surprised when he said, because it was more like confirmation of everything he'd been saying through his actions since they got back together.
I don't think Adalind was surprised Nick said he loved her, but I did see relief in her eyes. She almost whispered it back to him. It wouldn't have gone unnoticed by her, that he hadn't said the words. But I imagine she didn't want to bring it up, because the last thing Adalind wanted was to put pressure on him. You see that same relief from her when Nick says he thought he was going to go crazy without her. In many respects, I feel Adalind has been waiting for him to open the doors completely, before she can feel that same comfort. This whole first year of their relationship bears an uncertain tension. Working through their past and growing feelings for each other, they seem to walk on egg shells when it comes to deeper issues. I see that last moment in Monroe and Rosalee's living room as the end of the first phase of their relationship. Nick comes through it in a more openly emotional place than we've ever seen him. And I think that will carry forward for them as a couple. For the first time he seems completely unselfconscious about his public intimacy with her. The love in his eyes, when he looks at her, seems completely unburdened by the past. And if his flood gates are opening, that tide will carry Adalind forward as well. Honestly, I think she's been waiting patiently for that. So, they're both all in from here on out. I'm a little bummed we don't get to see that next phase. Though hearing that they're going strong after twenty years, paints a picture for me.
