Mrtrick, I think if they had behaved differently to her - it would not have come so far.
Juliette as character doesn't deserve it.
Saying she doesn't deserve it, is to say that there's something wrong with where she finds herself at the end of the series. I think Eve might disagree with that assessment. If the sole reason for her being is to live and die for Nick, then perhaps her outcome is a sad one. But as a character, I like to think she offers more than fodder for the shipper wars. Juliette has been beset by a massive amount of tragedy. Whether it could have been avoided or atleast managed will always be hotly debated. But she's come through it, you know. And though it seemed unlikely at one point, she's found forgiveness and much of her humanity waiting for her. So she's not with Nick..So what..They both still care deeply about each other and look out for each other, which is a hell of a lot better than where we left them at the end of season four. Eve doesn't begrudge Nick finding love with someone else. I think by the end, she may even call Adalind a friend. They both bare a similar burden of guilt and a desire to find redemption in what they'll do next. For Adalind, that's tied up in the notion of family and legacy. For Eve it's about purpose in the struggle. At the end, Eve is surrounded by an extended family who love and support her. She'll be there for them as they will for her. If the pain she experienced and loss of the woman she was makes you feel like she's been exploited and treated dismissively, I'm here to tell you that it's just not so. The writer's love Juliette. They just saw her as more than Nick's girlfriend. She spent those first years wandering around in the dark, an outsider because of circumstance. When she discovered the truth, her mind engaged with the new, but her heart balked at what this meant for her future. What did she want? There's a reason that Nick's engagement ring never found it's way onto her finger. Even if they never expressed it out loud. Throughout the series, Juliette has always engaged more with the intellectual side of all things Wesen, than the idea of being Mrs. Grimm. Not because she didn't love Nick, but because she didn't know how she fit in on that front. If she'd merely walked out on Nick and never looked back, then Juliette, veterinarian extraordinaire, would be somewhere giving a cat a rectal thermometer right now. But what a waste that would have been. To find out who she was and what her purpose could be in this brave new world, Juliette would have to wade through hellfire and brimstone. She would need to become Eve. And Eve is awesome. She became her own person. Yes, it's a far cry from the individual she was. Rose colored glasses can make the old Juliette look ideal. But that was a woman who spent a lot of her time confused about her place in the world. Eve has no such doubts. The last thing she would want to do, is go back. She doesn't need Nick. She's got herself.
