When I originally saw the episode, I didn't get the impression that this was something that was going to be used for posterity, but something Kelly was writing on his own.
Really? I find that interpretation very unlikely. Why are Kelly writing in an old Grimm book (and not in a modern notebook or on a computer)? These books are practically treasures for the Grimm family. They have a clear purpose, to document a Grimm's experience for the future. I believe the only reason Kelly is writting this 20 years later is because it binds together the last scene of the final with the 20 years later segment in a nice way.

DG stated whatever the viewer thinks happened, happened, and further stated it's supposed to live on in "your" mind. JK stated they formed a new kind of family, fighting together.
The interview doesn't even conclusively state Nick and Adalind were definitely together at the end.
This is one reason I don't give a lot of credence to interviews.
Oh boy, are we really going start this discussion again? I have read that interview, and the “whatever the viewer thinks happened” was relating to the characters not mentioned in the end, i.e. Truble, Renard, Eve, Hank, Wu and Bud. All interviews I’ve read have confirmed the obvious: Adalind and Nick are mom and dad. All other interpretations are, to put it honestly, insane, because the show was about Nick Burkhardt. There is NO indication that Adalind and Nick are not together 20 years later. In fact, the ONLY reason to have that reference was to tell the viewers they are together. Nick fought BC and the devil to get Adalind back. To claim anything else is to deny the whole storyline.
