From a real world perspective, yes. People will always complain about them but it could've gone some way in having an in-universe explanation. I definitely get what you're saying though.

We already know enough about Nick through watching six seasons of the show that he wanted to save his friends. If that's not enough, he just had a conversation with his dead mother and aunt about wanting them back and even fought Trubel because he was going to give the staff to Z in exchange for him bringing them back. That was after he saw Trubel revived with the same staff he was now holding.
I suggest nobody post the quote about Nick wanting them back again because it doesn't matter.
It's now apparent to me why certain shows spell out every single thing to their audience. They want to avoid situations like this one.
By the way, "subconscious" implies that it's still there. It doesn't mean nonexistent. The most powerful object in the world, magical in nature, picking up on its owner's subconscious is not nearly unbelievable as you're making it out to be. It's no less believable than Nick fighting with the strength of his ancestors against a being from an entirely different plane of reality.

He went back through the mirror for a "hard reset". We saw it.
