Nick was fighting against going into portal every one seems to have seen that except you, funny that isn’t it.
Again, according to your own argument, there was a hard reset. Therefore there would be no "reviving of friends".
How do I know he could let go of the stick? Because he threw it down to go to Adalind. He also freely pointed it at the vortex. There's nothing in the episode that remotely suggests that Nick could not let go of the staff.
So again, my questions. Why didn't Nick seek out his son? Why did he leave Diana and his son behind? You're stating he didn't know anything. Then the only alternative was to leave the stick and look for baby Kelly and make sure he and Diana got to safety.
How exactly would Nick know there would be a reset, that was the writers explaining what happened to Nick, as far as Nick the character was concerned reviving them was the only way to bring them back the character not a fortune teller he didn’t know there be a reset, as far as he knew that staff was the only hope of reviving them.
