If the writers are explaining exactly what went on onscreen and what a certain scene meant that is 100 percent canon in my view as they are simply explaining their own creation and what it meant when they wrote it to ignore that is beyond arrogant it means your trying to claim you know the show better than the people who wrote and created it in the first place, show runners have ultimate say on thier universe, end of story.
Ignoring the writers explaining thier own storylines is equivalent to walking into a restaurant with a sign up saying no pets allowed except guide dogs. Then bringing you dog anyway and when confronted by the owner, explaining to him he didn’t really mean it when he put up the no pets allowed sign and you know better than him what’s allowed in his own restaurant.
