I think using all the information available is a good thing here. Casual viewers wouldn't know about any extra info. But we aren't casual viewers, are we?
This is a fanforum and we analyze and dissect the show in ways that casual viewers wouldn't bother doing. Context is of the utmost importance when forming our views and all context should be welcome. Anything out there that can help to answer our questions shouldn't be ignored.
Honestly, I find writers explaining what they wrote to not be the most interesting thing. Learning about why they wrote it that way is much more fascinating to me but I'm not going to dismiss their explanation. It'll just lead me to question why they wrote it that way and still won't stop me from questioning them if I don't think things quite added up. Just see my post on GoT for an obvious example.
