I made the mistake of paying too much attention to the show's inconsistencies. S5 alone has more plot holes than a Michael Bay movie. It's just frustrating as hell to see characters you desperately want to invest yourself in being treated like sock-puppets by the writers over and over again.
The show does seem to be existing in the middle of an emergency center with alarm buttons going off all over the place. But I will still mourn its passing, hard to let go.
