Quote:She might, except she'd be more aware that everything Sean does has an ulterior motive than she was during their previous relationship. She'd play loving wife and mother in public, and would probably ignore his involvement with other women. Whether she'd be in his bed or in her own room the way she was at Bonaparte's house, who knows? But I bet she wouldn't be telling him that she loved him. that ship has not only passed, it's sunk.True, but I think Adalind has always had some understanding of how Renard operates, and knowing what she’d see, chose not to look too closely. The same is true for Nick. If Adalind can’t see that Nick has been distant for no apparent reason, it’s because she refuses to look so she won’t have to see it.
Renard’s reaction to Adalind not wanting him was funny. I doubt he thought it possible that Adalind wouldn’t want him or could want someone else more. He really didn’t know how to handle rejection from Adalind.
