Very good post, Hell Rell. Well, I missed all but a few minutes of last night's episode (out of town guests); looked excellent. Since I have to wait until I can watch it on Demand, I'll rattle on here.
I was thinking about the episode's slogan again and noticed some biblical references in how the killer's victims were sacrificed. The first scene shows the victim being made to struggle under the weight of carrying his own cross. The horn stab in the side of the victim could be compared to the spear thrust into Christ's side. There is a biblical reference about the crucifixion about both blood and water spilling on the ground from the wound on Christ's side. And there was a challis-like vessel used in the crimes. No disrespect intended, but it did seem as if the writer's were combining the wesen ancient ritual of making the rains comes during a drought, with some our of own Christian beliefs, which makes the episode slogan even more meaningful to the story.
Two things were left unexplained, at least I didn't notice a resolution. First, and very puzzling, was the mirror-like coverings on the victim's eyes. They made a point of remarking about them, but then it went nowhere. Anybody notice an explanation of the meaning of that, seems significant. Secondly, where the heck is Chinatown in Portland; I mean, they said twice they were going there, but I don't think they did, maybe some footage was left on the editing room floor.
