I said I would write more about Sansa. I wrote this in another forum as a response to a question asking if Sansa marrying Ramsay made any sense so it here it goes:
There isn't a more nonsensical plot in any show of any genre ever than Sansa marrying Ramsay. There may be some that are just as nonsensical but none can surpass it.
I've seen people try to rationalize why it made sense for Sansa but nothing comes close to convincing. This is the same girl who had every intention of pushing Joffrey to his death even if it meant her own. Ever since then, she has been in survival mode while dreading every second she had to spend with the family that killed her father, was waging war against her family, had a hand in the murders of her mother and brother, and was holding her hostage.
There was a scene in season 2 where Sansa had her first period. She was so terrified that she attempted to get rid of all evidence of that momentous occasion because she knew it meant she was then capable of bearing Joffrey's children.
In season 3, Sansa had her hopes of leaving KL behind dashed when she was forced to marry Tyrion. That meant she would be forever tied to the Lannisters, have Tyrion's children, and have her inheritance stolen from her. All of this combined with the knowledge of her family's murders made every day for her a living hell. She knew she was completely powerless and at the mercy of her captors.
In season 4, Sansa finally escaped KL. Sure her aunt tried to kill her but her stint at the Vale was definitely an improvement upon her prior living situation. Fortunately, Lysa tragically threw herself through the moondoor and she had some semblance of safety at last.
Somehow, the writers want me to believe that Sansa would leave the safety of the Vale and voluntarily marry into another family that brutally murdered her own in one of the most infamous slaughters in the history of Westeros. She did do it voluntarily because the writers said so themselves so don't argue with me on this one. She decided to reward them with her hand in marriage. Sansa would as a result legitimize their bogus claim and give herself up to be their hostage and baby maker. It makes total sense that she would live with the possibility of bringing more Boltons into the world. And she did it on the vague notion of "avenging" her family. I'm taking suggestions for how any of this avenges her family.
Of course, it only occurred to Sansa to build an army to take back Winterfell in season 6. Even Viserys knew that you don't go home without an army. I guess it's different for a feminine character. There's nothing like being locked in your room and being raped multiple times by the sadistic psychopath who conquered your home and is the son of the man who stabbed your brother in the heart while the man who betrayed your family and who you think murdered your little brothers watches. I suppose that's the only way a character like this can come to the same conclusion as Viserys.
As for Littlefinger, his interest in Sansa was two-fold. He wanted her because she was the key to the north as well as his ultimate personal fantasy. LF spent years trying to get her in his grasp and he finally did in season 4. Sansa saved his life at the end of season 4 and decided to take her chances with him rather than the Lords of the Vale whom she didn't know. He didn't capture Sansa's love but he was in fairly good standing with her.
Things seem to be going well between them at the beginning of season 5 but the first thing LF does is send a letter to Roose Bolton telling him he had the most wanted woman in Westeros. He proposes a marriage between her and Ramsay, whom he has never heard anything about and doesn't bother to find out even though he's handing Sansa over to him. Honestly, Ramsay flying under the radar makes no sense in itself but that's for another topic.
LF somehow thinks that handing Sansa over to the family notorious for murdering Starks would help him gain standing in the North as well as make Sansa fall in love with him? He was so sure that he didn't bother to provide her with any protection nor did he even devise a way to keep tabs on her. LF was totally counting on the hospitality of the Boltons and trusted them not to mistreat her in any way.
In an exciting turn of events, it's revealed that LF was planning on bringing the Knights of the Vale up north to defeat the exhausted winner of the Stannis/Bolton battle all along. He made the calculated decision that it was better to put Sansa in the middle of a warzone while in the Boltons' control rather than keep her with him in the Vale. She simply could've rode north with the KotV since that was the endgame but I guess that doesn't make any sense. LF was already shaming them for not aiding the Starks when Cat came to Lysa for her help at the end of season 4 and they appeared to take this to heart. I don't think framing it as a Sansa rescue mission was necessary. Robin could've easily been talked into sending his troops north to reclaim Winterfell in her name. He already offered to throw people through the moondoor for her.
In all honesty, I really believe Sansa married Ramsay because the show runners wanted her raped by him. They loved the shock value of it all. It was the centerpiece of that storyline and the only thing of note in it for the entirety of season 5. Several characters had to be rewritten in order for it to happen but that wasn't going to stop them. The only character whose integrity they cared about was Ramsay. It was more of his storyline than anyone else's. There's also no denying that it was used to redeem Theon, by him playing the rescuer, and set him on his new path which is just deplorable.
