Hi Irukandji,
I believe the “Darkness” is Nick’s anguish over the loss of his Aunt, his Mother and the Woman he loves. Nick may regret a lot of things he did or failed to do or say, but he was not the perpetrator of these deaths.
He was insane as the zombie thing. In his zombie rage he murdered some guy in the bar. He confessed to Renard who wanted him as his Grimm Pawn and covered up Nick’s crime by destroying evidence. The Royal Captain participates in a felony if it suits him. So we have seen Nick recover from insanity.
The evidentiary facts of the recent havoc murders in Portland will convict Juliette and the Royals. The dead bodies at the Royal compound and good detective work could be a problem for the Scooby team. Proper discovery of the facts about the murdered prostitutes would convict Renard. I thoroughly enjoyed Nick wasting Kenneth. Unfortunately Nick committed a homicide. Nick, Hank and Wu colluded and participated in evidence tampering so good police work could be difficult.
I doubt Nick will confess to any of the murders. That would be the end of the Grimm TV show. Can you imagine Renard having remorse about the prostitutes he murdered and providing a confession?
If Nick and Adalind open up real communication, how will Nick react to learning details about Renard sending her to the hospital to murder his Aunt? Will he think she “trumped up” that story?
The “wrongs” Nick has experienced are factual. The deaths of Marie, Kelly and Juliette are not delusions. There is no hope for justice in the human courts. Nick’s task will be to discover the persons responsible and deliver Grimm Justice.
