Sure we might not want to over-generalize, be biased, or fall prey to stereotyping but so far we have no reason to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Hello Lou...
I agree with you. At least until now, my feeling is that the writers are creating a plot where we have Nick, Grimm and his friends (Renard included) in one side... and the royal families in the other side. Being Nick the main character in the show, I assume the royal families are the bad guys (and Nick the good guy).
Of course that, as this is just a TV show, the writers can any time twist everything and put Nick as the bad guy and the royal families as the "protectors of wesens and the supernatural world". Based on wesen's reaction when they recognize Nick as a grimm, this is not a hard twist to do.
About not generalize, if my memories serve me well, in one of the last episodes, when Erick was talking to his father, Erick said something to his father like:
"I am glad that you and the royal families agree with the plan because when it starts there is no way back". (obs.: I don't remember the quote exactly, but the idea is that...).
So, I guess (this is just a guess) this means that Erick getting Nick as a zombie is a plan not of he alone, but from his father and from all the royal families.
Of course the writers can, in some point, put one of the royal families betraying the others and helping Nick and Renard. Renard, for example, is one character that started as a kind of bad guy and now looks like a good guy, apparently.
But my guess (and just to be clear, that is just a guess) is that until this moment all the royal families are working together (at least look like that) and they are the bad guys.
