After she went through the trouble of transforming into Juliette it's not like Adalind had time to go on a long-term birth control method and she could hardly ask Nick to wear a condom without arousing suspicion. I'm sure she assumed as a one off there was virtually no chance of getting pregnant and seemed completely shocked and genuinely upset to discover she was carrying a little Grimm.
First of all, one offs are a myth and there are probably people on this forum who could testify to that fact. Secondly, Adalind is not an innocent sleeping with a guy for the first time. She's already had one baby and knows the drill. Third, *she's* the one who chose the time to sleep with Nick. She might have been at her peak and the time was right for her to conceive. Not all people go to bed just for the sex. Fourth, she's a witch. She wouldn't be the first to deliberately conceive a special baby in order change the balance of power to her favor.
I'm not sure if you have had a bad experience, but you seem to take a woman's reproductive responsibilities way too seriously. Let's not forget Sean and the Prince could have wrapped their soldiers if they were worried about having kids. Or as my mother says, it takes two to tango.
As far as knowing she was at her "peak" as you call it, well first off Ha Ha Ha, ovulation is not quite that easy to nail down. It's not like a flag pops up in vagina signaling it's a great time to conceive.
As someone who's done a lot of work on family planning, I have learned two things 1) Men and women are equally responsible/to blame for making kids 2) Sex messes with your head, which I think is a big part of why the planet is over populated
I think another thing to remember is the actress was about to have a baby, so I personally think the writers came up with a clever way to work it into the storyline.
Sorry, but I just don't buy the idea that Adalind wanted and or expected Nick to knock her up
It's obvious to me, Belle, that you really don't want to debate. Respectfully, I'll leave you to your thoughts then.
