Hollywood types including writers find themselves in the office or on the set for 12 to 16 hours a day. They have no time left for a partner. That is why relationships/marriages in that town are fast, passionate, and short. I would guess not being in the middle of it and having lost any friends who disappeared in that direction (I was born and raised in the Central San Joaquin valley.) over the years, that most of them harbor deep seeded grudges against the opposite sex for not understanding them, when they have not really looked at the lack of their own commitment outside of their industry.
In that case, I can see why so many romantic relationships in popular entertainment these days feel shallow and insincere. Tenderness is a tough thing to sell on-screen without looking schmaltzy, and it doesn't help if the people writing the stories live in a hard-ass environment that's as void of love as you can get.
I can not say much. I spent most of my life trying to break into the the game production/programing community. Some of those guys both the men and women go home once a week to take a shower and other wise live off pizza and mountain dew delivery, sleeping under their desks. It may be different now. I have not looked into it recently but that is the way it was in the late 80s to the early 2000s. The weird part is this is how they live till they make a big game that everyone loves. Then the one or two guys that 'own' it sell the company to a corporation (EA or Microsoft) who then try to force these non-conformist almost anarchist geniuses to live by 9 to 5 rules. No more all night for 5 days straight sessions feeding more off each others thoughts than food... And people wander why Favorite Game Name Here 5 is just like 3 and 4.
EDIT:
I believe what Edison said "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration." So please do not over think this post.
If I had something important to say, I would have mumbled it.
