Sean was kiil before you get killed....We have come to see Nick is not that kind of Grimm but before Sean started working with Nick, he did not know that. If Sean was a true villian he would have never teamed with Nick. Or risk his life to save Juliette.
I can see where the argument can be made that Renard is not PURELY evil, but I'm not sure there is enough information out there to say he is not a villain on this show. The Grimm writers have played the Renard cards very close to their chests. I can also appreciate the points that Sean HAD a mindset of how MOST Grimms operate, but here there are a few other clues at play here that MUST be considered:
1. Sean has killed in cold blood; Nick has not. Sean killed the guys in the garage (his cousin and one of Eric's people). He also had Eric assassinated. He has not told the Scooby gang about this.
2. He has mentioned several times that he has not figured out how to utilize Nick's special talents. That's not a partnership; that is manipulation. I believe he gave Nick the key and saved Juliette JUST to manipulate Nick, not because of any moral character.
3. There were a lot of unknowns about his meetings with The Resistance. We don't know the contents of those meetings, and he did not share this with the Scooby gang either. Let's not forget that, when he held those coins in his possession, the inner dictator came out in full force. The Royal blood runs thickly in this Zauberbiest (those manipulative traits).
4. This is the most crucial argument for me and most apropos to this thread. Sean did not give Juliette the correct instructions when she came to him re: Hexenbiest issues. If he were loyal in any way to Nick, he would have said, let's all sit down together and figure this out. He helped Juliette keep another secret from Nick and actually gave her instructions to Henrietta when Sean KNOWS first hand how manipulative H'biests are. Why did he not instruct Juliette to go share with Nick/Rosalee/Monroe first and have them all go together to Henrietta? How can a viewer not think he is trying to use his knowledge like a chess piece on a game board? Also, knowing Nick's mother may be in harm's way re: Viktor/Adalind's search for Kelly, why has he not told Nick that Adalind wants to partner with him...as in immediately told Nick after Adalind approached him? If Sean held Nick in high regard at all, he would have NEVER done either of these things.
While Nick has dispatched a few Wesen and people, it has been to defend himself or others from actual physical harm. Sean has injured or dispatched Wesen and people for their viewpoint, to show he has power, and for the potential harm they MAY do him in future. Apples and oranges, and I need WAY more information on Sean before I put a Scooby badge on his chest and not the big black pointed (witch's) hat on his head that he has earned thus far.
