Juliette was able to support herself on her own as a vet and live in Portland without Nick finding her. She has human friends and her own wesen friends and her own parents were never hurt because Nick was a grimm. She had no problem saying No to marrying Nick. Nick took her out on dates and bought her flowers. He told her he love her often.
Adalind's relationship with Nick is nothing like Juliette's relationship with Nick.
Women characters do not have to be having sex with the lead to be important to the story.
