Now we have always had the debate on what she knew and what she didn't know about what Kenneth planned, and not likely any on the forum will now change they mind on how they see this some she knew some she didn't know. So no reason to going back into that debate.Having finished the show, I now think Kelly's death wouldn't have been as big a stumbling block for Nick and Eve as i imagined at the time she died. The one thing I feel was constant from the very beginning of the show was that fundamentally, Nick and Juliette wanted very different things in life even though they loved each other. They had so much crap happen from the moment Nick became a Grimm and I don't think they dealt with it accordingly, thus building a stronger relationship from the trials they faced as a couple. Communication wasn't as open as it should have been. The were broken down until they finally couldn't get back up again.
The irony is that Nick and Adalind had an even worse set up but somehow made it (not talking the twenty year time jump) and I think that had more to do with neither of them having great expectations of their relationship and actually finding middle ground that worked for them where Nick and Juliette couldn't make the necessary compromises within themselves to make things work when Nick's Grimm made things abundantly difficult for them.

TV shows usual keep the main couple together no matter how many times they break up during the show or what they do to each other. the writers don't permanently break them up unless the actor playing the love interest leaves the show or doesn't come back before the end to reunite the couple.
Is Superman with his first love? Is Spiderman with his first? No, I do not agree with you for this genre. Angel show and Buffy they broke up all the couples and make new ones by the end. In Charmed, none of the women ended up with their first romantic relationship and Cole was on the show for years. Star Trek broke up the couples as well. I believe only Miles & Keiko O'Brien and Tom & B'Elanna were allowed to marry and have children as main characters in all 5 shows of Star Trek.
can we continue this in nick and juliette thread?

Did the characters end up like you expected at the beginning of the series?

To give you an example, in AoS, a character betrayed the whole cast at the first season and for YEARS some fans demanded the writers redeem him (for romantic reasons of course) so he could be part of the team he betrayed (but really so he could hook up with the main female lead). That never happened. The writers chose a path and they stuck by their decision breaking a popular tv trope even in the face of extreme outcries from thousands of fans.
Writers exercise their power over the characters and stories, sometimes with some nudging from the fans (whether a little or a lot) or sometimes they ignore the fans altogether. In this, they cannot please everyone and honestly they shouldn't be trying to please people but focus instead on writing coherent, intelligible shows.
