The grouped tied the preacher down and stuck him with hot pokers. But I read post that feel sorry they were arrested. The argument being they thought they where trying to save the preacher. If you feel your faith trumps logic then I understand why you would feel sorry for the group. To me logic would say if the solution is to kill, then you are missing something. Given that the preacher had never shown any acts of violence why would they feel the solution was violence.
To me I feel the same with any religion, group, or belief, that advocates conversion by using violence. That kind of perspective is what has driven many wars and acts of violence. The crusades thousands died because they did not believe. The middle east, thousands die because they don't believe. How many can't get married because they don't follow others belief. In 2016 in the US we still have a segment of the population that considers being gay makes you an immoral person. No logical reason, just some religious belief. This is what I see this episode trying to show. Blind belief does not make it right.
