Not discounting that Adalind loves Nick, or at the very least believes what she feels for Nick is what love is supposed to feel like, but I do think Adalind’s priority has been to make the best life she can for her children from her available options. And since returning to Portland with Kenneth, Nick and his friends have been her best option. So while her love/loyalty for Nick is genuine, I don’t think Adalind would work so hard to make her relationship with Nick work if it didn’t provide the protection she needed for her children.
More important, I think your assessment shows just how much Adalind was already like Nick and his friends. Otherwise, she couldn’t fit in as well as she does. It’s not that Adalind’s mindset has drastically changed, only that instead of working with Renard against Nick, she now works with Nick against Renard. And Nick doesn’t seem to mind that Adalind is willing to deceive and kill as long as it’s for him. I've said before that Adalind's relationship with Nick isn't that different than her prior relationship with Renard.
