It wasn't just Hank, it was how they all reacted. As to why she went to Renard and Henrietta for advice, were there any other knowledgeable sources around? The books all said "Off with her head". Both Renard and Henrietta said they had never seen her condition before, it was permanent as far as they could see, and Henrietta suggested not telling Nick. When a person discloses a deep dark secret and you walk out on them, even if you return a day or so later and make some grand offer to help, don't act surprised if they are pissed off with you and turn down your new enlightened attitude. My experience says things go south from there. With no advice on how to act, no one you trust to help you--"Drink this new potion my dearie and trust us--there will be no side effects this time and and if you do we will like you again", life can become a drive down a mountain road in the night, no lights and ice on the road. Wheee.
There's a difference between the person who disclosed the secret and the one that took a day or two to react how the person with the secret wanted.
The person with the secret is allowed to be upset about that and shouldn't be condemned for it. I understand that it hurts. It would be hard to control your emotions so rationality isn't going to enter the equation yet. No big problem here for me.
However, the person may have reacted badly but they gathered themselves to come back to you and try to support you. There comes a point where the secret holder needs to drop their obvious bitterness or grudge. Rational thought needs to come back at some point because that person is now getting a pass for their shitty behavior. It's even more unreasonable that Nick keeps getting blamed for not reacting exactly how Juliette wanted him to when she wanted him to when it took her even more time to accept her new reality. Nick actually came to his senses much quicker than she did.
The truth of the matter is Juliette wasn't abandoned. She shunned everyone. I never held her breaking up with Nick against her because she could end the relationship for any reason she deemed fit. But Juliette is the one that ended the relationship so that makes everything that happened afterwards even more baffling. She still acted like she was the one that was abandoned and everyone turned against her. That's not their fault.
