which witch was better suited to a life with Nick? - WispyWillow - 07-11-2018

the life of a grimm tends to be rather grim.

what kind of person would fit into the romantic life of grimms? nick's dad was killed. marie left her fiance to raise nick. trubel's parents were killed.
grimms don't seem to be big on compromise and danger is never that far

how different was kelly while she was married to nick's father? difficult to imagine the kelly we met as the mother nick grew up with.

which witch was better suited to a life with Nick? Adalind or Juliette/Eve

Adalind ¡¡.
Marie was sick and that's why she was pessimistic. She left her boyfriend because of obvius motives.
Kelly regretted.
Adalind and Nick had a childhood different and that's why they were looking for family.
On the other hand Juliette never interested in the next step. She was already tired of the matter " GRIMM" (3×22). Eve showed not being interested in having a family.

Too bad Trubel wasn't a bit older and not looked at by Nick as a younger sister. Another Grimm would have made a better partner.

Juliette used her Hex uncompromising condition before and after she became a Hex, to destroy her relationship.

1) Juliette rejected his proposal way back in S1.

2) She kept her condition a secret after agreeing to no more keeping secrets.

3) His initial reaction to pull out his gun was to his belief it was Adalind morphed into Juliette again. Once she proved it was her, he holstered the gun. Her safety was always foremost for Nick.

4) Nick never walked out on her. She walked out on him. When he took that walk, he was reacting to him blaming himself for her condition, not because he rejected her. Want proof? Look at his dialogue.

5) The next evening she rejected him. She walked out permanently. She only came back to sucker in his mother in with a BS email and to shag Nicks enemy.

6) She rejected taking the suppressant potion.

7) As FrankenEve/Evette in S6 she re-enforced her rejection of Nick when she had the talk with Nick in "the other place".

Adalind used her condition to compromise her relationship with Nick. Compromising is a necessity in any successful relationship.
1) She accepted his invitation to his home and his fome.
2) She was willing to make and test the suppressant potion.
3) She was willing to adapt to showed patience to her new situation.

As much as I would have preferred to a Nickolette ending, the Nadalind one was the better choice.

Hi Wispy,
I like your homonym play on words.
The idea of a Grimm and Hexenbiest having a loving relationship is inconsistent with how the two are cast. Recall how Kelly (Nick's mother) killed Cathrine (Adalind's mother). Recall that blood of a Grimm destroys the Hexenbiest as Nick did when he fought Adalind. When Juliette became Hexenette, her "love" for Nick was gone and she only had rage toward him.
IMO no Hexenbiest was suitable to a life with anyone, especially a Grimm. I do not recall any other being on Grimm that had a healthy loving relationship with a Hexenbiest. The Nickalind ship was inconsistent with the established characteristics for Grimms and Hexenbiester. Is that the correct Plural? Confused

I think the relationship between them worked because they left their own interests to an aside , for a baby, his son.
It would not work if you think you have all the absolutely right( that was Juliette).

If Juliette becoming a hexenbiest was seen as an advantage instead of a curse. They would have made the better couple. Out of all the dangerous situations she was put in. Not once did she choose to leave his side. Even when she could not remember him, she fought to remember him.
As long as Adalind has the mindset of a survivor, her and Nick could be together but would not make a good couple. Like the vows say till death do we part. Adalind showed there are conditions when that would not apply to her.

It is hard to judge devotion because Juliette and Nick have history where Adalind and Nick do not. WE also saw Juliette evolving to think more of a survivor, where Adalind was learning to trust.

when it comes to Nick and Adalind there is an would always be an elephant in the room. That would be Diana and Sean. That is not to say, that problem could not be worked out. They did show Sean willing to compromise, even if it was not a voluntary choose.

If better suited for life with Nick means better for his life as a Grimm. That would be Eve. They would make a lousy couple, but an unbeatable team.

Looking at it from his past relationships, I would say Juliette, by miles. Adalind was forced into living with Nick because of her circumstances. If Kenneth had kept her with him, she'd have never gone to Nick.

Juliette, on the other hand, lived with Nick by choice.

But both of these women have experienced profound changes. Even in the world of the characters, it's not realistic to believe that either Adalind or Eve would put up with Nick for long.

juliette had already reached a point where she was tired of the "Nick the GRIMM".
But then her change led her to be angry at Nick and company. Betrayed.
Adalind understood his world and was part of it.

I have read this statement in various forms over the past years but I have yet to read anything that supports how Adalind understood Nick's world and that somehow automatically puts her in the mickey mouse club of grimmdom.
