The writers didn’t sabotage Nick/Juliette for Nick/Adalind because it was never about the characters and their relationship. Nick/Juliette was a source of woe-is-me drama for Nick set in a purely supernatural scenario.
Had it been about the characters/their relationship and a situation viewers could relate to, Juliette would have reacted in a way more akin to hysteria and left when learning the scope of horror and risk Nick had exposed her to in order to keep his Grimm life secret. The woe-is-me drama would have been the characters mourning the destruction of the life they once had and trying to figure out if a relationship within a completely different kind of life was possible for them.
Drama and action have always been at the forefront of the storylines and WoW episodes. Character evolution and romantic/interpersonal relationships were pushed so far to the back they were practically nonexistent.
Anyone judging a show and it’s characters from a shipping point of view is going to be disappointed with any scenario if the writers aren’t equally in love with the shipper’s fav couple. And as disappointed as I am with Grimm overall, I do appreciate the writers’ seemingly total lack of concern for shippers and fav couples.
