The big difference between loss of a loved one and the loss of who and what you are is. At some point you will get past the sadness you feel from a personal loss and be able to go on with your life. Like Juliette no matter how hard she tries or how much therapy she has. She will never again be Juliette. The only thing in real life that would even come close would be. If someone against you will gave you a sex change operation complete with hormone therapy. Even that is not exactly the same because that could be reversed. Juliette condition can't.
The only way the Juliette since of loss would not be worse then personal loss. Would be if Juliette was already dissatisfied with herself. Then becoming a hexenbiest might be seen as an improvement. At this point she is learning to accept the new self and not dwell on the loss. The main concept in her seeing herself as Eve and the idea of she is starting over.
