Quote:What isn’t familiar to Grimm is that this growth-escalated child is a wholly developed character with an independent thought process and emotions. Because unlike Grimm, this child character bonded with the people who raised her, actively participated in working against the faction that kidnapped her, and when finally reunited with her father, expressed relief and genuine happiness while at the same time confusion and anger over him leaving her with strangers. The difference, on z nation the character was created to be a person. Diana has never been portrayed as a person. She was created as an entity. Diana is exactly like an alien or android that is tasked with learning how humans act. Noticed how Diana does not have normal reactions to anything. Even as a baby she did not react as a baby would. Also notice how Diana has always seemed to be in her own world.
Grimm never actually developed Diana as a character, the writers simply created a plot devise they could pull from the shelf when needed. But then, Nick didn’t react to learning of Kelly’s existence with the gamut of emotions one would expect. It was pretty much the one-note response Grimm uses to quickly move the characters from point A to point B.
Quote:If the show didn’t want to deal with fallout it should have adhered to a strict Wesen of the week format and stayed away from the complications of personal drama. The show should have been the Scooby-Doo cartoon reincarnated in a Grimm fairytale setting with live characters. Reality, as defined on the show, begins and ends with each episode. There is nothing about Grimm that indicates it is reality based. Just because they use a real city with real locations does not make it reality based. There is nothing about how the captain acts that is even close to how a real police captain acts. They never secure a crime scene. They contaminate evidence. You never see anyone ware gloves. Have you ever seen a forensic team. Wu does the forensics. The show does not even attempt to make it seem real. The show is not a story about Grimm's or A detective mystery. The show is a situation drama. Every episode they create a situation and then contrive a solution. This does not require supplying the details. It does not even require it to be logical.
As it is, Grimm has a hero incapable of learning useful knowledge and skill. The Royals knew how to contain a Hexenbiest. Evidently, HW or Meisner knew how to contain a Hexenbiest against her will. Why didn’t Nick know after five years of Grimming?
Your analysis would be true if grimm was a drama. But it is not it is a show of contrived situations. Most detective shows establish the crime then tell how they solve it or provide clues to let the viewer solve the crime. On Grimm it is not about the crime it is about what the characters do. The show is based on the characters actions. The how and why comes second. Actions are not driven by motivation. Actions are driven by reasons.
