It's not uncommon for a series character to die, even when it seems unnecessary. Writers like to kill a character as a means to keep from seeming predictable. Sometimes a series will go too far doing this; on LOST, as soon as I really started t like a character he or she would die. I gave that show up in disgust after a couple years. I liked Juliette, but when she died I was thinking "Yay!" I was much more concerned back when it looked like Renard would die. His conflicts were interesting in ways that Juliette's were not. Anyway, Nick's aunt warned that a Grimm must cut himself off from those he loved. He didn't, and both he and Juliette paid the price. I don't want the writers to spoil the high tragedy of it all; let the dead stay dead. (On the other hand, if we lost Rosalee, it would be heart-wrenching. Bitsie Tulloch was capable as Juliette, but she wasn't given the best material to work with. At her best, her character lacked a certain warmth.)
W/O Juliette, Nick is free to try a new love and new love excites fan interest. I hope Adelind Shade and Nick grow closer. The former seems to be trying to come out of the darkness, the darkness which Juliette was too weak to resist. Corruption stories upset; redemption stories warm the heart. But Hank seems to have a lingering interest in Adeline, too, and that could presage a triangle. Whatever happens, I hope Adelind is around for a good while yet.
Re: wfmyers1207's issues.
I don't agree with every opinion stated. I think season 3 and 4 have been the best. Trubel's story in 3 made that season for me, and in 4, Julette's encounter with her dark side and surrender to it was very engaging. I watched the powerful last episode 3 times and I'd rate it well.
Issues: "Why did Trubel go to Nick's house *and* bring a crossbow with her?" I see it this way. Nick told everyone to go home. Where else could Trubel go? Nick's house was her place to crash when she was in town. The crossbow was used at the mansion, by Hank, I recall, but it belonged to Nick. Hank would logically pass it to Trubel to return to Nick. Maybe Hank gave Trubel a lift from Bud's house to Nick's place.
The question: "How did Juliette escape from the king *and* get back to Nick's house so fast?"
Admittedly, I was surprised that Juliette was not in the 'copter. She didn't have to escape the king; she didn't want to go with him for some reason. Maybe she intended to take a private flight to Europe later, because she wanted to complete her vengeance against Nick. (Her transformation seemed to have made her psychotic. There seemed to be nothing left inside Juliette except rage and hate. We have seen at least 3 other hexenbeists that have been milder persons than Juliette.) Also, I didn't think she got home with unrealistic speed. Nick and company didn't go directly home; they stopped at Bud's house first. Juliette could have found a ride or a vehicle at or near the mansion. Who can keep anything from a hexenbeist if she really wants it?
The only odd thing about that scene was that Nick told her to get out. It has always been my understanding that Juliette owned the house. Maybe he meant, "If you don't get out of my sight I'll kill you." But if he was thinking that when he spoke, he turned out not to mean it. Hmmm, will Nick have to move out if the house is inherited by Juliette's family?
wfmyers1207, next point, "I don't have a lot of hope for next season after what I've seen last week." I don't feel that way; I'm charged. I would give the writers kudos. I only worry that it will be hard for them to do justice to the possibilities that have been opened by these late events. As I say, I'd like to see Adelind develop into a more positive character. I also hope that the hole that Juliette's passing leaves in the cast will be filled by making Trubel a regular. That girl in black is a real charmer. I can't recall a Trubel episode that wasn't better than average.
One off topic question that remains, how is Nick going to make up for the loss of research material at the trailer? Will he get more books from some dead Grimm, such as his mother or maybe Josh Porter, if the latter should come to an unfortunate end?
