Eh, this was more heavily a WotW episode, which isn't necessarily good nor bad, but the story itself was kinda bleh. I feel like it unfairly portrayed the Native Americans as one-dimensional animistic spiritualists, and unfairly portrayed the white men as one-dimensional ignorant racist rednecks, and the end result was a one-dimensional storyline.
Couple notes on specifics:
The flag on the guest deputy's right shoulder was flying backwards (canton in retreat). That always bothers me when I see it. Is that just a costuming error, or is that how sheriff's deputies wear the flag patch in Multnomah County?
Wish they didn't involve Hank like that. It feels like now that they have Wu as their token "normal", they feel the need to give everyone else some kind of personal Wesen experience, even if its only temporary. And, inevitably, they'll do something to Wu too and introduce someone else to be the token Kehrseite.
Conceptually, this seems to bridge a lot of gaps that have raised questions before about the nature and extent of the supernatural/Wesen world. We know that Wesen have a primal spirit within them; we know that Hexenbiesten, at least, can have that removed from them and become normal humans. But we've never seen a clear case like this where a spirit is living independent of a human, and possessing and releasing them at will. Obviously, there are free-roaming spirits as well as the inherent Wesen ones, which mean previous not-quite-Wesen things like La Llorona or Volcanalis, which didn't seem to quite fit as true Wesen, could simply be placed in that category now as well, albeit more corporeal ones.
Maybe nothing. Maybe she just wanted solitude so she could concentrate, because it was a very delicate step in the process, as evidenced by the fact that she didn't get it quite right even then...
