TV has never been about people making smart, intelligent decisions in any given situation. It's not real life where people actually have that option available to the them.

I am sure the sex scenes, the gratuitous nudity and I hear some of the sex is real sex happening, helped them get those awards.

You may have a point. I just assumed it was Sam's mumbling and the misogyny that was putting them over the top.

Game of Thrones is one of the outermost Hollywood use of the excuse it hides behind; “Art Imitates Life”. Personally, to me, It’s more of; “Life Imitates Art”. See Oscar Wilde , The Decay of Lying

I agree with others’ comments that all shows have characters behave in a way that allows the storyline to move smoothly, but to me, the actions & reactions of Grimm’s characters feels really in-your-face contrived compared to some well written TV shows. And I certainly don’t think disguising the contrived with complicated twists and turns is easy, but if viewers are paying to have the show piped into their homes, and tuning in each week and putting up with eighteen minutes of commercials per episode, it’s not too much to ask for.(06-26-2017, 06:57 PM)Robyn Wrote: But characters who ask the right questions and plan strategy are likely to disrupt easy storytelling.

The excuses made for GOT are extremely annoying. It's okay to like something while acknowledging its problems. The next time I hear "that's how things really were" as an excuse it's going to take all my energy to not shout at them for how ridiculous that is. Especially considering that it's painfully clear the writers don't give a damn about how things really were. That's just one of many problems with the show. The main one I have is nothing makes any sense yet it's renowned as such a deep and complex show. It's been this way for the last two seasons and will continue until the show ends. I've seen better and more engaging stories in video games. Characters just do whatever is required to make things more convenient for the writers who stopped caring about consistency a long time ago.

I feel that they run out of storyline ideas and extending the life of the show by giving you even more nudity and sex. My kid who’s is not a happy camper to the exploitation of women in the media has mentioned to me about one of the main female characters is putting her foot down on the excess sex and nudity on the show, especially pertaining to herself. Maybe if the producers of Grimm started to show more skin, the series would have lasted longer. Ahh! but they were on Broadcast TV and as per Hollywood standards, the main female actors of Grimm are already “over the hill”

Guns don’t kill people, people kill people and have been pretty good at it way before guns came into existence. How much gun use was justified in Grimm? When I worked part time in a gun store, way back in the 70’s and one job wasn’t enough. Before the NYC PD enforced cops to be range qualified every year. A cop came in with his service revolver fused to the leather holster. In four or more years, he never pulled it out of his holster. A result of perspiration effect to steel and leather. Hollywood exploits both while claiming they are against it. Where would Hollywood be if it wasn’t for Sex and Guns?
