I’m not judging Nick & the others, that’s not what this post is about. But from where Adalind is sitting, I have to question - what emotionally healthy woman would consider any of these people her friends, especially after only a few days.
For me to get on board with Nick/Adalind, or anyone/Adalind, I need to believe Adalind isn’t in love with Nick because she’s emotionally damaged and has abandonment issues. Based on how Adalind responds to the men in her life, had Meisner left Europe with her & Diana instead of handing them off to Kelly, she would be in love with him. Or if Renard had taken her in instead of Nick, she would be in love with him now, and likely working with him in BC’s agenda.
I do not see Adalind as a bad person, never have. But Adalind tends to ingratiate herself with whomever she’s with at any given time. That mindset might have kept her safe on occasion but it always ended up making her situation worse. I’m not against Nick/Adalind, not my preference, but I’d be okay with it. But what I need to see is Adalind standing up for herself, which would enable her to stand up for her children.
I think you more or less iterated my view on Adalind until the end part. If we are being serious and she were a real person I think I would state she has severe emotional issues that I doubt she can actually overcome but as I would wish for anyone, I do think with effort and guidance she could at least become emotionally stable enough to make better choices in associations.
Oxford commas are so totally rad!.
