I'd be more interested in hearing how the Egyptian rods turned snakes worked, seeing as how they presumably weren't getting their mojo from the same source as Moses.
Ok, I was not really drawing Speak into a spiritual discussion, but more making fun with him/her.
However, the easy interpretation is that the 'other' side of things provided their 'mojo,' which obviously proved Moses' point.

Think it may be more of racial memory that all cultures seems to have created myths to explain; that there is a magical object that can great wield great power for good or evil depending on who uses it. It's an ancient attempt to explain the world of pre-science, imo.

That's a religious belief and I would never dare to question a person's religious views. I don't personally believe that and some of the very beautiful wisdom of the Bible verses (except as metaphorical life lessons), but I respect the choice of others to do so.
However, if I were to see in reality a staff turn into a snake in front of me, I would place the scientific statisical chances of it happening at 100% probability!
