This episode had almost zero to do with the end of the show. There are plot lines to end, issues to resolve, futures to project. If the next shows are like this one, I will look into suing GK for the theft of my time. Of course, it will be petty theft, but still theft.
I didn't see the first 12 minutes of the episode so I had no idea Adalind and Diana were even part of it. I saw Eve and then later in the episode when all of the scoobies were at the spice shop discussing the tree thing, I wondered where the heck Eve was.
While I was disappointed with the rest of the episode as far as the season finale goes, I wondered why an episode like this was never aired during the first season. I liked Wu doing some real police work and analyzing the substances found at the scene. However, that tree reminded me so much of the one from the movie, Sleepy Hollow, I couldn't help wondering if it was a knock off. I take it Nick is now adding to the Grimm diaries? It's about time.

Nick has added to the book before was several season's ago...but this is not his 1st entry, the only difference he had alot of help writing about this one.
Why should they change the complete formula of the whole show just because this is the last season?
Grimm was always like that, some main-plot stuff in the first one or two episodes and the rest WOW-episodes until second or 3rd to last episode of a season. They figured this main plot out long before they knew the total number of episodes, there is nothing missing. If we got 9 episodes more and had the usual 22 ep season, we wouldn't get one bit more of main plot, just 9 more WOW-episodes. There are no mainplot bits missing, so why should they drag the main plot out?! 5 Episodes of the scoobis only sitting around the table and figuring out the constellation of the symbols, is that what you want to see? I know. However, he's had many instances of wesen encounters that he hasn't documented. I thought it was worth noting.

The four episodes are a done deal. Grimm has taken down the tent and is selling the set. Unless GK Productions did huge improvements for Episodes 10 - 13 what started as great entertainment will end a flop. Maybe that is the reason for their photo that flops over at the end of each show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikk4sboCPfU N G

That's true. But then there would be the question: why would he do it sometimes and sometimes not? What's more likely, if he obviously wants to fill the books with his experiences?
If we don't see them eat for half an episode, would that mean that they didn't eat anything for 48 hours? Most probably not.

Seeing a character write in a diary twice in a six year season doesn't make it a consistent activity with the character.
