I would like to put Chavez and HW in the equation and analyze how the debate between follow the law or follow the greater good should affect Nick's decisions about HW since HW clearly acts out side the limits of the law.
Any ideas?
The "greater good" is used to justify some bad activity. There seems to be an association of a sacrifice of some kind to achieve "greater good." The sacrifice could be to violate a law, to act unethically, to behave immorally, even to injure or kill. HW imposes sacrifice on others for what it considers the "greater good."
BC sacrifices Wesen who disagree for their greater good, "ocultatum libera." In 5.02 one of the BC shouts oculatum libera and the commits suicide as her personal sacrifice to the "greater good."
Nick has used deadly force to protect others from harm. He has violated the law to achieve what he sees as a "greater good."
IMO, Grimm puts on display various scenarios of extreme acts that are perpetrated for "greater good" some of which seem bad for society in general. Is this purely to entertain or do they want the show to be thought-provoking?
