Grimms are lumped in as well, of course, because they were grimms. The show also portrayed that there were not that many grimms, so grimms (including Nick and the gang) were definitely not the ones holding wesen back, Kehrseite were. Switching the roles of hunter and hunted without the inclusion of BC specifically would still mean that Kehrseite would become the hunted. Preserving Kehrseite norms was what they were rebelling against and not just grimms. BC was presented was the (evil) leaders who were taking advantage of this uprising. However, 'regular' community wesen being recruited also resented having to observe kehrseite norms and laws.Nick was supposed to be a different type of Grimm, one who was dedicated to the protect and serve ideology within the Portland Wesen community. Yet, except for routine investigations of crimes such as those in Wesen Nacht and Star Crossed, Nick wasn’t involved in the uprising until BC’s tactics affected him personally. The meeting Monroe infiltrated was Portland citizens airing their grievances, but the man leading the meeting was a BC recruiter using those grievances to gain followers, which is basically what a real life political party does. And Nick’s lack of concern after learning BC is manipulating local citizens into their cause was the disconnect for me.
We discussed BC as a political group usurping a grassroots Wesen uprising on the forum, but I don’t recall that being a part of the storyline. There was reference to an uprising but it was in regards to the group BC, and the story G & K presented was about a global political coup by an organization called BC, not an actual citizen motivated uprising in Portland or anywhere else. But even with that I kept expecting Nick to take a stand and establish his position as protector of his city and local citizens whether against callous BC tactics or overzealous HW tactics. And I didn’t see Nick do much of anything outside his normal work day until the fight with BC became personal. The way it played out, S5 could have been a typical WoW season until the last two or three episodes when a local Wesen group tried to take down Nick by kidnapping his son, and Nick responded by waging an all out war to get him back. For me, the uprising, BC, and HW didn’t add meaning or value to the S5 storyline.

It would also make the wesen uprising even less genuine as a grassroots movement as well. The BC storyline was global but except for the Council’s massacre and HW footage we only saw what was happening in Portland. Nick can only directly help bring about change in the Wesen/Grimm/human relationship in Portland, but that could jumpstart global change.
I do like the scenario of wesen and humans compromising and living together - but that would have been a bigger feat to accomplish for G& K since they would now have to go even bigger and even more global with their story. Aside from the handful of humans that know about wesen in different towns (if we take Portland as a representative sample), you'd have to spring them the majority of unsuspecting humans too.
