I managed to see this flick yesterday, really enjoyed the combination of comedy and action, there were a couple of slow points but overall felt this was a creditable addition to the Marvel mosaic.
Good villain, but would have liked a little more back story. But who doesn't love a 'BIG' gun toting mercenary raccoon who manages both the quippiness and technical know how of Tony Stark with perhaps even more snark and Star Lord (Peter Quill) was just the right amount of rogue, hero and idiot for the movie. The CGI of both Rockett Raccoon and Groot (Vin Diesel's best performance ) were excellent and as always in a Marvel ensemble movie there was some fine badinage between the the characters.
I can't wait for the Avengers and the Guardians to meet Thanos and the infinity Gauntlet
And one final point of note, I loved the sound track, already purchased on itunes

Doctor: You betrayed me … betrayed my trust. You betrayed our friendship, you betrayed everything that I’ve ever stood for. You let me down!
Clara: Then why are you helping me?
Doctor: Why? Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?
