Adalind had certain expectations from the father of her child, Renard didn't meet them. Nick and Adalind, for four out of six years were enemies. When she went to Nick, she had little expectation by comparison because of their history but still banked on Nick stepping up for his supposed unborn son. Renard felt he had to give Diana away to protect her but his attitude and behavior towards Adalind after that was deplorable compared to Nick, who took in the woman he's hated for years. It's no wonder Adalind's feelings for Nick change so drastically compared to Renard. Renard was more than happy to set hexenbiest Juliette on Adalind, Nick protected Adalind from the same crazed Juliette, his girlfriend. There's no way Adalind remains unaffected by this.
Adalind and Renard should have been closer at the end but they couldn’t move past their own actions against the other until Zerstörer came after Diana. Nick and Adalind happened to work out their differences much sooner. Renard and Adalind had the chance after Diana's birth but that didn't work out, in fact it only compounded their hatred for one another because instead of coming together to protect their daughter, Renard went about it on his own in taking Diana away. Nick had to promise from the onset never to take Kelly away and he never did and to Adalind, that had to count for something.
