Aunt Marie was the first person that tells Nick he is a Grimm. In the hospital she tells him he has to hunt down the bad ones (wesen) and kill them like his ancestors did: notice she did not say all wesen. This implied to me if their not doing anything live and let live.
Nick follows this advice and makes friends with Monroe and Rosalee. They also trust him this appears to be one of a kind. Aunt Marie point changes Nick's outlook on wesen. Aunt Marie point of view is also Nick's live and let live.
Enter Kelly when she first meets Monroe and Rosalee she attacks them and asks Nick how can you be friends with them? So we have Marie ok with wesen and Kelly old school Grimm as I see it.
At the hospital she notes Monroe and Rosalee helping Nick, blocking to doctors and Rosalee potion. Notices that Nick doesn't ask questions trusts Rosalee and uses the potion. His trust is complete Kelly even remarks about it on the way back to Nick's house.
Later Kelly even says I don't understand this relationship you have with my son, Rosalee says they don't either but does it matter? Kelly says I'm starting to think not.
Have the writers now laid the ground work for Kelly's death? With Kelly not now looking on wesen as a danger and needing to die add raising Diana did this to some degree (how ever small) cause her to lower her guard?
