Yeah, that's the part that makes no sense to me. King Freddie is dead. Viktor is on the throne and Sean gets the news from Meisner? Kings don't die and get replaced without it making the news somewhere, and Sean used to pay more attention to what was going on in his estranged family than that.

I felt Renard was off his game all season. Not surprised that he'd chose the political and power move over having a Grimm in his pocket, but that he leaped without ensuring he would clear the hurdle. And Renard wouldn’t do that unless he’s backed in a corner, which he wasn’t.
I kept expecting Renard to reach out to Meisner with an offer to use his position as precinct captain to help HW for the opportunity to examine BC from a different perspective. It stands to reason that BC would present it’s ideology as being strong enough to take control. But, Renard buying it hook, line, and sinker without even trying to independently assess their strengths and weaknesses doesn’t make sense to me.

Rachel seemed to have him thinking with the wrong brain most of the time. Which is quite a reversal, because in past seasons he was usually the one working his charms on potentially useful females.

Remember Miesner works for HW. When he was talking to Sean he was given hint. Not admitting to what happened. Miesner was careful to not say who had Diana. Miesner never said the resistance hadher. He said friends had her.
Sean is a savior and chooses the winning side. Sean was not in charge with the resistance or the Royals.

The surprise to me is not that Renard knows his father has died, but that he didn't seem to already know that Viktor had ascended. It would be at least as big a story as crown prince Eric getting blown up was a couple of seasons before.
When Eve receives the alert that Diana has been taken, it displays a map and a location described as "Sector 21," then says action is required. That alert would certainly tell her where Diana had been up until she was taken. Whether Meisner or anyone else in HW Portland knew that Diana was at that location before that? Unknown.
With Meisner saying the body has not been found, wouldn't that imply that the King is missing not dead at least for a time. So Renard getting word that Viktor in now King when Viktor would been made King as long as the King is just missing? Not sure how that would work he likely has take over the duties of KIng, but would him come out a take the job at that time? Now that Season 5 is over likely now he can.
Now going on a little farther for season 6 would the family want Viktor or Sean? Not because Sean is the King son but because Sean can produce heirs?
I have no idea how that would work. It just seems to me that a season or two before, Sean would have already known about it by the time Meisner showed up at his office.

He also said these friends didn't tell him where she was. Why do you think he was so careful about Diana?

Meisner could have been wanting to keep Diana out of the mess between BC and HW. He may have felt he own Adalind and Diana that. We should add Meisner in this thread because he has been connected to Adalind and Diana from day one.

Why would Meisner want to do that? Diana isn't anything to him.
