I just complete season 1 again on DVD I saw the first and second episodes and had a different conclusion. I did mean the compliment so you are welcome.(08-22-2015, 10:41 AM)jsgrimm45 Wrote: I saw Nick seeing Adalind the first time as confused not frighten then the person the jail and confused not frighten. That night after Marie started to explain things they were attacked he reacted not questioning what was needed. One could say police training but when Hanks goddaughter woge with the same training different reaction.
By the second episode in bear will be bears when the boy woge Nick noted it but didn't react. I see all Nick reacts in keeping with Adriano research process 1. The dream the first night of the reaper was fear it was the (as we know) brain putting the day events into order but a dream like that for that day I see as just a normal dream for the events.
@irukandji you have a very good outlook on people more so then myself. I'm in the Men in Black group when K tells Will Smith a person is smart but people short version are not. I see the world today an think thank god Grimm is a fantasy like we need one more faction in the world today. An heaven help us if we ever get a response from space. Think the world is bad today wait until that day. Just my opinion.
Thank you for the compliment, js. I wanted to watch Nick's reaction to wesen for the first time again to get an idea of the character. My thought is that Nick was disturbed when Adelind woged at him. In the human context, that makes perfect sense. It also makes sense that the perp woging at him would disturb him as well.
But that doesn't make Nick any different than you or I. I don't think any of us would freak out if we saw something strange across the street. We would be disturbed and wonder, and wonder again when it happened at our work. But neither of those people came in contact with Nick directly, so I can see him filing those encounters away. Just like we all would.
The Hulda is another matter entirely. That happened so fast, Nick was completely unprepared. It's only the fact he had his gun on him that he was able to shoot it. If you notice, who experiences the most fright and paralysis during the encounter? Marie. She's an accomplished Grimm who knows this wesen is following. Yet she was not prepared and Nick was not prepared. He too experiences some fright paralysis, gets hit and has to fumble around before he can get his gun and shoot the Hulda.
Nick and Marie's actions toward the wesen have to be believeable, otherwise I, as part of the audience have no idea of the danger of wesen. I believe both of them were scared s***less that night. Their brains reacted the same way that any of us would act in the same situation.
The other day I watched a really good documentary on Wyatt Earp. There was some controversy with the OK Corral, but after the gunfight was over, Doc Holliday, Morgan, and Virgil were injured. Wyatt, despite having a coat full of bullet holes, was not injured. Witnesses on the scene say he was fearless and stood perfectly still during the gunfight, only moving his arms to shoot.
Wyatt formed a posse to go after the cowboys who injured Holliday and his brothers. They came upon the cowboys accidentally. The cowboys immediately got the upper hand, and Holliday and the posse rode off. They were scared off. Wyatt did not run. He went back to his horse to get his rifle. The horse bolted and Wyatt was forced to defend himself alone. Again, despite many bullet holes to his coat, he managed to remain uninjured.
If Nick had acted like Wyatt Earp, and was fearless from the first, I could believe that his brain responded to fear differently. But he didn't, from what I saw. And I'm not sure what happened with Marie.
