They're on the fence as it is, and it's not going to go up dramatically now that it's on Friday night. The fans are the fans, you're not going to get a huge new fan base in Season 5 to carry it through for 3 more seasons. Normally when I comment, I do so from a vantage of a level of expertise. The following comments are not that way, they are based rather on some knowledge and some practical experience but hardly what I would call expertise. I had a couple of radio shows for about 8 years in total and there appears to be some correlation. When a show gets 80-100 shows it gains potential for off network syndication. The practical aspect of this is a show can actually be produced at an initial loss and make money (i.e. turn a profit) via syndication. Ratings then, become less important, because a marginal show can still make you money, which may be safer in the overall mix for a network than taking a flyer on a replacement show that may not catch on at all. Lineups also matter, you can often piggyback two shows that get a greater share when run back to back then they can separately. So a marginal show may hang in there as part o fan overall network strategy. With Grimm the syndication play may be relevant. Then again I am not stating this from a position of authority, more like just something I have happenstance knowledge of. regards... The reason I asked is I wasn't sure of the nature of your questions. I'm still not, but you asked, so I'll answer. It was not a premonition. I've been watching the ratings. They weren't great to begin with, but they have been steadily declining since the first episode and from what I read, the first episode of season 5 had lower ratings than the first episode of season 4. With the cliffhanger, they really should have been up a bit. I've also been reading the various comments about the episodes this season. I do look at other forums from time to time, but mostly keep with this one since it's one of the larger forums. The comments here have been less than enthusiastic. Not all, but enough to be noticed. Then there's Juliette's death. For such a despised and hated character, questions about her still come up. It makes me wonder if killing her was a prudent decision and so we have the game playing sessions now. Grimm isn't a series in the same league with M.A.S.H or NCIS, or any series where there are a powerhouse of characters that can fill the gap left by a departing actor. I can't speak for anyone else, but I feel that gap everytime I watch the personal scenes with Nick and Monroe and Rosalee. Juliette may not be coming back, but we're going to have the games so that people are left guessing or bantering back and forth, whatever. I guess these writers are under the impression that if people continue to guess, they'll continue to watch the series. It's inevitable that a wesen uprising would be in the future for this series, but I looked at that as something that would span several years in the making. The Grimm creators are all of the sudden bringing it into focus this season. That could imply that they're sensing a cancellation in the future and want to get to as much of that story as possible during this season. I saw it happen with Covert Affairs. The creators of that series weren't planning on being cancelled. When they were, they hurried up and tied everything together in the last episode. It could happen with Grimm.

There was nothing in your profile to indicate you were female, and honestly, "dude" has just often been applied to women as men. But if you prefer "dudette," hey, whatever floats your boat. But it's apparent you're reading a hostility into my posts that simply isn't there. I couldn't be bothered to read the rest of your message, on account of you came out with guns blazing. I had never watch the series until about 8 months ago because I never heard of it. My sister told me so I got the DVDs and now I'm a fan. I do watch Supernatural had this been on the CW the would have see the ads. NBC doesn't put ads on the series out or if they do I never seen one. Just my 2 cents.(11-24-2015, 06:21 AM)irukandji Wrote: I don't think parents who are raising kids should date other people, never have. So as far as Juliette's concerned, I highly doubt she'll be making an appearance as a regular anytime soon. TNT has picked up Grimm and has shown it in syndication. It's kind of strange though because out here, it's on at one in the morning or three in the morning now. I have picked up a lot of season one on demand, but TNT doesn't leave them out on on demand too long. Interesting thing I heard the other day. Rey picked up Constantine and Almost Human for syndication. Both of those shows never made it to season two.

I really really hope that if Juliette comes back ( and I kinda hope it's a big "if") that she be super bad and part of the uprising but in the end it turns out she was working in concert with Renard to bring it all down. I think the potential mayor has ties to the uprising and Renard is inserting himself in there and not letting anyone else in on it.
So Renard and Juliette are revealed to be heavily involved and everyone feels betrayed and it is either revealed during the final fight or maybe Nick confronts Renard before the big battle , they duke it out and all is revealed to be an undercover operation. This way Juliette is redeemed if not forgiven , it leaves the door open for Renard and Juliette , it leaves Nick and Adalind to develop without the shadow of Juliette and we all get to delight in rich deep storylines.

I for one have liked the way they have worked the Adalind/Nick/Kelly thing. I also will say that I didn't see a way to do this, but they have done it well. Could we add a little twist to this or will this twist soon happen.
Diana returns to Adalind now the way thing are set I see Nick being OK with that and taking care of LBB no problem, would Sean? Or would he want Diana and Adalind to move in with him now that the royals are on a back burner? We also have Miesner Dec 4 Nick will meet him did or did not him and Adalind have a connection? Would Diana who we know knows him want him over Nick? See this lineup change by adding Diana, Sean and Miesner would make a "very interesting" maybe even funny episode 3 men and 2 babies. How they would work this out would show where Nick and Adalind really are.

But he probably would, except I doubt he needs to. My guess is Nick could just find a Cougar bar and take his pick. Portland women are not known for their unyielding virtue.

I actually thought that was why they were bringing him back, but I also really, really like Nick and Adalind as a couple. I see way more chemistry between Nick and Adalind than I ever saw between he and Juliette. I actually thought Juliette had a stronger vibe with Renard. No matter what happens next I think I'll be happy. The first episode of this season had me feeling like the whole show was about to tank, but now it seems to be getting better and better. I especially like the new bunker style apartment Nick set up and can't wait to see where the weird door in the tunnel leads or what they'll do when Adalind starts to get her powers back. |
