To me, that Renard apologized to Adalind and admitted regretting some of the things he did was a big deal for the character. I don’t think he turned into a boy scout, be do think he acknowledged that his defunct quest for power came at a high price. And while I don’t think Renard discovered he loved Adalind, I do think seeing how she was with Nick made him realize what might have been for him, Adalind, and Diana had he chosen differently. And to some degree he regretted the road not taken.
I don't see Renard really giving a hang about Adalind pairing up with Nick, or wondering about the life that could have been. He's much too dynamic to wallow in regret. I think he was focused on Diana and no doubt found himself another woman (or more) to keep him company.
