Your idea of early tribal Grimm/Wesen/Humans relationships is interesting, and keeps with the ‘will to survive’ and the ‘strongest survive’ theories. Even if humans and weaker Wesen united, sustained survival against stronger, more violent Wesen would have been difficult. But Grimm joining these tribes would have greatly enhanced their odds of sustained survival.
If they established tribes consisting of likeminded Humans, Wesen and Grimm, something disrupted that camaraderie and eventually led to Grimm becoming combative against all Wesen and Wesen distrusting/fearing/hating all Grimm, and Humans’ awareness of Grimm and Wesen was eventually lost to the general population and only remained with elite groups/organizations such as a select few high ranking government and military personnel.
That disruption could have been caused by earlier elite groups rising above the general population, and Grimm unwittingly helping these elite groups unite small tribes to create a larger population and region for each newly formed monarch to reign over. This could explain the creation of seven Royal families and why Grimm were once employed by or pledged their service to them. The show provided background of Grimm being employed by/in service of the seven Royal families as early as the twelfth century, but didn’t contradict that it occurred much earlier. And using your theory that Humans and weaker Wesen may have accepted Grimm as religious leaders because of their strengths and insights, explains why they didn’t initially resist the Royal families reigning over them and Grimm policing them.
Robyn, you have got the idea of my post.
In real life, have you ever wondered why the pharaohs, for example, had so much power over Egypt?
It is easy to understand this happening when you look at the big Egypt of old times feared by all the people around them. The pharaoh was powerful.
But my question is earlier: I am talking about a time when there were no Egypt. I am asking about a time when we have just a small group of people (a tribe) fighting for their life.
In that time anyone could have claimed to be the leader of the human group. But someone had something to offer. There was a single person that offered to that group some small advantage so the group followed him. Maybe someone that was a good hunter. Maybe someone that knew where to find water, or good fruits. Or even better... Someone that knew the cycles of Nile river.
That is my point about this virtual grimm world. Anyone that good offer some advantage to that group would became the leader. The grimm can see and fight wesen. Or someone that is friend of a grimm.

If wessen were a minority in our early world, it would be better for them to be able to hide and avoid the pitch forks and torches. The only problem for them is that some humans-Grimms-could see them for what they were. The wessen would warn their children not to woge so as to avoid the Grimm. If humans were having a problem with unusual animal attacks, they would call on the Grimm who had a reputation of ending those attacks. One reason there were so few Grimms was because they involved in hunting dangerous creatures, most had a short lifespan. Wessen could be a large group of human varieties, the largest human variety is "normal" humans.
Erick I think it is very interesting to think about the Z world. I am not sure, but I have the impression there were no Grimm in the Z world.
If that is the case, it can be one of the reasons why the wesen grow stronger and free to hunt humans. While that in our world the mix Grimm X Humans X weak wesen could have controled the wesen population keeping them in a small number.
Anyway, it doesn't make much sense wesen living in the shadows since they are stronger unless they are a very small quantity comparing to humans.
