You are having an interesting discussion. You mention depth of love and duration of relationship. The often quoted I Corinthins 13:7 indicates love endures all things. Unfortunately, nearly half of marriages end in divorce. Google pulled up this article about depth and duration:
http://lovefromana.com/relationship-succ...-duration/
so people do think and write about depth and duration.
IMO, a guy who proposes marriage should have a deep relationship with the woman he wants to be his wife. Nick has made many errors of judgement, yet the sweet Juliette back in the beginning of the series seemed to be a good choice. IMO, Nick and Juliette had chemistry; a deep regard and caring for each other. The writers chose to show burning lust and passion in the Renard & Juliette flings which many on the forum viewed as "chemistry."
Nick knew that a Kehrseite could have severe reactions if exposed to the Wesen world so he chose to protect Juliette. Recall her excuse to refuse his proposal:
Quote:I can't.We saw Hank, Wu and others become hysterical. Juliette was not able to accept it when Nick told her. She thought he "needed help."
I love you so much.
And I really, really want to marry you someday.
. . .
It's not because of your job.
It's you.
I feel like you've been keeping things from me.
You've been so closed off.
IMO, Nick did not take Juliette for granted. He believed her when she said "I love you so much." His error was not taking her for granted. He valued her above all others and wanted her as his wife. So yes, Nick raised her to a very high standard. His error was that his love was blind and he trusted her completely.
Hexenette betrayed Nick's love and trust. She dedicated her life to commit every horrible, vile and immoral act of hatred she could. As she was in the process of murdering Nick she taunted him about "love" only to bring more heinous enjoyment in ripping out his throat.
The writers brought the saga of Juliette to a proper end when Trubel killed her. Before, during and after season 5, the writers have declared Juliette to be DEAD. IMO, that declaration invalidated the character Eve. They may decide to dig the hole deeper and resurrect Juliette for season 6. I may need to keep a barf bucket handy to endure the final 13 episodes of the only network TV series I actually watch as broadcast.

Thank you, Yes Love Endures all things. Nick made many mistakes with Juliette, But once his Aunt came to town this all changed, he became very very secretive to Juliette and she felt that, did he not love her enough to be honest with her? NO But did he value her as much, I don't think so. I saw no chemistry between them there was affection and trust. Yes he did hold her in high standard but was he in love with her I say no. I think when he asked her to marry him he knew she would say no. Oh yes when she taunted him and and threw his "love in his face he should have changed the locks on his doors and erase her from his life for good.
Once she became a Hexenbeist was a vile and evil but was that her true inner self emerging finally. She blames him for everything and would have killed him on a dime.
When Trubel "Killed" her she should have stayed dead dead dead.
