What doesn't make sense in the context of the series is the Adalind to Diana and the Diana to Adalind connection. Adalind suddenly has a revelation that she wants to be a mother and she's keeping Diana. Diana, on the other hand, doesn't seem to want to be kept by Adalind.
I think Diana was written to be a child in the series. However, I can see where she could be looked at as something other than a child. She creates her own version of voodoo dolls, understands the concept of marriage, and knows how to murder, just to name a few.
