I see people trying to apply moral standards to a action show. Exactly how would you write an action show that had the protagonist not break any rules.I will agree back in the sixties the western and detective shows did have the protagonist always stick to the rules. But tell me would you still find the old dragnet shows exciting. But just like we watch horror shows to satisfy some imaginary idea. We do the same with shows like Grimm. Trying to argue immorality in Grimm is like arguing how Fast and Furious promotes reckless driving.
All eight characters body counts where the result of being on mission or in retaliation. Both situation the show defines as legit reasons. But unlike older shows which where presented with a biased point of view. New shows take an ambiguous stance. They make the protagonist both good and bad. They switch protagonist into antagonist. They even kill of main characters. Concepts that never existed in older shows. Like I said old shows where black and white, there was never any grey. You would never would have seen a vampire, or zombie being the protagonist. But I hope we never go back to that type of programming. Yes I rewatch the old shows. Yes I find them interesting. But they are in no way exciting. Even when they first came out I do not remember any show that could heightens the adrenaline like the new show do.
Curious is there any new action, or detective show that you would find moral and upstanding. Reading a lot of these post on the immorality of Grimm sounds like the same arguments that prevented showing married couples in the same bed. Never showing any living area having a toilet. or the FCC find showing the belly button is pornographic. Could you really imagine any new show adhering to these rules.
