Nick's objective with Adalind was do what he needed to do to save Hank. Would Nick have killed Adalind if Hank had died? That early in the series, probably not.
Kenneth killing Kelly with Juliette's help was supposed to be the tipping point that would turn Nick the good guy unto a darker character. Then someone decided to make the series more "relevant" by introducing an ISIL-llike wesen faction and HW and there went that plot.
