But the series had to make his presence attractive to Nick somehow and tidbits of knowledge would be the only way he'd get Nick's attention. Many wessen were not afraid of Nick from the git go--the dragon girl. All of Nick's clan were happy to know Nick--their friendship helped control the trolls. Many of the wessen Nick met saw him as interesting and someone they could work with--the father bear, the doctor in Big Feet. The minister blutbad did was surprised but not afraid of Nick--probably because he wasn't dead in the first few minutes. As far as Monroe and Rosalee were concerned, in the real world cohabitation causes less upset than marriage.
I wonder how the various species of wesen viewed him. We know some were outright opposed to his upcoming marriage to Rosalee, although I find it somewhat hypocritical that they could care less if he lived with her. It had to be out in the news that he was a pal to the grimm. It seems to me that would anger them more than any marriage to Rosalee. In addition, at least according to the arguments I've seen, supposedly these grimm are akin to the boogeyman in our culture.
So what kind of a wesen decides to pal around with their version of the boogeyman?
